Greater Seaport of St Pete cargo traffic rises 10% in Jan-Mar

ST. PETERSBURG, Jan 23 (PRIME) -- The cargo traffic of Russia’s Greater Seaport of St. Petersburg grew 10% to 13.833 million tonnes in January-March, as seen by PRIME in data of the Administration of the Baltic Sea Ports on Monday.

The port’s oil product transshipment rose 11% to 1.955 million tonnes. Container transshipment grew 11% to 6.094 million tonnes.

Handling of general cargo increased 15% to 3.394 million tonnes. Ferrous metals traffic rose 12% to 1.689 million tonnes and non-ferrous metals traffic dropped 11% to 377,200 tonnes.

Bulk cargo handling fell 2% to 1.956 million tonnes, including mineral fertilizers declining 5% to 1.756 million tonnes, ore growing 23% to 166,000 tonnes.

The Greater Port of St. Petersburg is the largest port in Russia’s Northwest Federal District.
